Dinner and a show – free! This special events kicks off The Road to Afro Roots…
Representing the days of early 20th century Caribbean dance music, the Antilles Music Ensemble brings to life a score of traditional songs that have long inspired people the world over.
A creation of guitarist and musical globetrotter Jose Elias, (Spam Allstars, Nag Champayons, Cortadito), and featuring vocalist and percussionist Tomas Diaz (Spam Allstars, Suky), the Antilles Music Ensemble showcases classic music from the Caribbean – Martinique, Jamaica, Cuba, Haiti, Trinidad, and more. The more Jose explored the roots of these neighboring islands, the more commonality and shared roots he found.
Top musicians join the band as featured guests on clarinet, sousaphone, congas, Cuban tres guitar, steel drums, and banjo. From a Son Montuno to a Sucu Sucu, from Compa to Mento, from a Beguine to a Calypso, the many flavors of the Caribbean come alive when the Antilles Music Ensemble takes the stage!
