A group of Miami music veterans have tapped into the primordial Yoruba aché source for an exciting new project that fuses rhythms of the orishas with house music -A.C.H.É, The AfroCuban House Experiment featuring DJ Oscar G, Oba Frank Lords and Katiahshé. DJ Oscar G, lifelong Miamian, co-founder of the seminal dance label Murk Records and production teams FunkyGreen Dogs and Liberty City, Oscar G boasts countless chart-topping hits andunderground smashes beloved by clubbers worldwide. Made In Miami is his new label under Nervous Records, forcreative music projects with the A.C.H.É. collective including Lords,Katiahshé, Lazaro Casanova, Jacob Colon, Otto Von Schirach, Eddie Alexander,George Acosta and Oscar G himself.
Oba Frank Lords is heralded as a creator of Miami’s Freestyle scene of the 1980s, known for his work with Secret Society and more. In 1980 he was ceremonially consecrated as a drummer and singer of traditional Yoruba music. Joining Lords on stage is his son,N’GO Lords who has performed with his father since the very young age of two,making for a dynamic drum duo.
Katiahshé, the voice and priestess of A.C.H.É., was born inMiami into a Cuban family full of music and arts. She began working with OscarG and Lords last year, and the chemistry created the signature sound for A.C.H.É: – sultry vocals, original deep house reminiscent of classic Miami freestyle, anchored by heavyAfroCuban percussion and dark murky synths.
